WHAT IS WASTE WATER, HOW IS IT TREATED?

Waste water:
Waters polluted as a result of domestic, industrial, agricultural uses or other uses, or modified partially or completely, waters from mines or metal ore extraction plants and waters coming from paved and unpaved built-up areas, main streets, car parks and so forth areas which precipitations return to surface or ground surface flows.

Waste Water Treatment: One or a few of physical, chemical and biological processes which are applied to wastewaters in order to reclaim lost physical, chemical and bacteriological features of waters in consequence of various uses and/or to protect natural physical, chemical, bacteriological and ecological features of the receiving environment they are discharged to.

Treatment processes differ depending on characteristics of the incoming waste water. Biological treatment should be preferred to remove dissolved organic substances, which are formed due to bacteriological activities. Chemical treatment should be preferred to remove substances from water, which are dissolved or suspended in waste water, with chemical additives to enhance precipitation since these substances do not precipitate by gravity. Physical processes should be preferred to remove solid substances from waste water, which can precipitate by gravity. These processes can be applied separately as well as successively.
